FEBRUARY 2008 NEWSLETTER

Message from the President

 Hello folks

Well we had a nice turn out for our January meeting. I want to thank Tom Warner from United ambulance for coming in and sharing First Aid information with us. As we all know accidents can happen anytime and being prepared is the best thing we can do as fellow horsemen/woman.

The club ride/meeting schedule was approved at this meeting and many members mentioned several places they will be riding throughout the rest of each month. We will try to get information from them in advanced in case anyone wishes to join in the fun.

Our guest speaker for our Feb meeting will be a nurse from SEORMC. She will giving instruction in CPR. This will be up to each member to participate. Anyone not wishing to learn is not required to be involved. Due to the length of the training we will be changing the time of the meeting to 6:30. Don’t forget to come early if your eating.

At our February meeting we will also hear from our Trail Maintenance Supervisor (I think that is his title this week) anyway, he will give information on the upcoming work/play weekend in April.

Bonnie will give us an update on the plans for a memorial for Karen Price, the Friends of Salt Fork wish to put up one for her and the club voted to pay for half of it.

If possible I would like some ideas from everyone on some type of Recruiter of the year award(s). This may help bring in new members and who doesn’t like a little friendly competition.

Message from Treasurer

I just found out that if two people are living together and sign up as a family with the insurance, they both need to sign the membership application. Anne had talked with an attorney and he said if both signatures are not on the app only the one that signs will be covered if they are sued. If they are married and it goes to court and only one person’s signature is on the app they will both be covered.

If you fall into the first category please see me to make sure your application is signed correctly.

 Thanks Paula

JUST BECAUSE ITS FEBRUARY AND I CAN

I FELT I WOULD SHARE WHAT MOST OF US ALREADY KNOW

 MURPHY'S HORSE LAWS
There is no such thing as a sterile barn cat.
No one ever notices how you ride until you fall off.
The least useful horse in your barn will eat the most, require shoes every four weeks and need the vet at least once a month.
A horse's misbehavior will be in direct proportion to the number of people who are watching.
Your favorite tack always gets chewed on, and your new blanket gets torn.
Tack you hate will never wear out and blankets you hate cannot be destroyed.
Horses you hate cannot be sold and will outlive you.
Clipper blades will become dull when your horse is half clipped.
If you approach within 50 feet of your barn in clean clothes, you will get dirty.
The number of horses you own will increase to the number of stalls in your barn.
Your barn will fall down without baling twine.
Hoof picks always run a way from home.
If you fall off, you will land on the site of your most recent injury.
If you are winning, then quit, because there is only one way to go. Down
